i used my 250mm telephoto/zoom lens.
the moon was really close and low in the sky as well.

What kind of camera is it? Is it a digital SLR? do you like it? I am looking for a new camera.

hi dandy, it's the Canon EOS Rebel XSi.
12.2 mp.
got it at costco as a full kit. not sure they still carry it, but they always have something similar or more current.

Camera body, strap, bag, Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens, EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens , battery and charger and a few other cords.

there is another similar kit that shoots video too. but we have a small canon elph that is good for that.

The zoom has image stabilization which is needed for zoom lenses.
The longer the rage in the lens the more stabilization you need because it's hard to keep the camera steady without a tripod and you end up with blurry pics. that is for any zoom lens and not just this one.

i love the camera, butas mentioned the zoom lens requires aVERY steady hand or a tripod.... especially under low light conditions.

does that help?

oh, all the bird shots on CFC since april have ben shot with this camera. i use it mainly for nature photography.
