We have had a few days to work in the yard and have been able to enjoy all the flowers that are popping out everywhere. Here are some images (ok...a lot) that I walked around and shot today of what is blooming now. They ALWAYS amaze.

Fantastic! I like the heliconia. Even the weeds are gorgeous.
there are a lot more i did not get good images of today. some of which i have never seen here in the yard before. you just never know what is going to pop up. like the tiny palm tree seedlings that dot the yard. most from palm trees that we do not even have close by... which means they were pooped out by birds! YAY FOR BIRDS! Free palm trees for me!
...or bats!
no bats please. we do hear tell of them, but have only seen 2 or 3. mongoose have been popping up all over and attacking birds. that's been pretty awful.
Mongooses (mongeese?) are gross. But, bats are wonderful and definitely won't eat your birds. The only thing they will eat besides fruit are mosquitoes. They're great for pesticide-free insect control.
Oh smell heaven. I wish you could post scratch n sniff photos...
I used to work in a flower shop and as I recall, Stephanotis have the most dreamy, sweet scent. (eyes are closed, trying to bring it back...) Thanks for sharing the beauty!
James: Good to know about the bats.
And the term is Mongoose, even plural.They are devils... I saw one last week get a myna bird and I was traumatized for days. It was terrible.
Paige: Yes Stephanotis have a dreamy scent. I love it. our 3 vines can be covered in thousands and thousands of flowers. Last week was the end of the first cycle, but it is full of new buds already... as well as a few giant seed pods. YAY! More Stephanotis.
So beautiful!! I don't know anything about flowers. Are they wild or did you plant them? Either way, just gorgeous. You are lucky.
I love your blog, by the way. I read the whole thing from the beiginning! I am a transplanted Manhattanite. I lived in NYC for 30 years and moved to Savannah, Ga. 6 months ago. It is also beautiful. We have amazing azelas in March and April.

I can't even begin to tell you how jealous I am of your yard. I LOVE Plumeria and annoy anyone near me with my wearing of the scent. I can hardly wait until we move there.
I saw that, that, that, that and that and smelled that and that.....but wait, where is my beloved gardenia?? :)
I kept the one John gave me until we checked out...still smelled like heaven. . .albeit a dried-up, brown, wilty heaven . . .but nevertheless!
So pretty. I can smell the plumeria - Mahalo.
We just don't get flowers like that on the Jersey Shore. ;-) Beautiful.
p.s. I love all the earth's creatures but mongoose are evil indeed!
@ diane: all of the flowers were here when we arrived. we do however keeping adding to them.i am now growing plumeria from seeds that came from our trees as well as some native hibiscus. we did plant the Naupaka which is also a native and are looking into getting more natives.
@ carlae: How could anyone not like the smell of plumeria?
@ deb:the gardenia were all dried up that day. we actually had a new burst of fragrance from them today. in fact we have a few sitting right here beside us right now. also every time i grab a yellow tomato i think of bean and how she did not like that one. she was too cute!

no they are not tiny papayas. they are not in any book i have and have not been able to locate them online.
