SAME BUT DIFFERENT

I was inspired to take this photo up in Makawao after seeing the the painted image of it on DEB AND HER CAMERA. I love how the shadows of the phone lines are nearly the exact in both images. Deb is a fairly new reader of CFC and we are also fans of her blog. Deb grew up here in Maui and we are glad we can give a a little taste of home and Aloha from time to time..

Hey, that's cool! The pic and the thought - thanks so much, guys.

Ditto the phone line shadows, and the Tropo sign too. Glad to see that shop is still there - anything new open up in the last year?

If you travel a bit down Baldwin Ave, towards the ocean, Eddie's house is on the right. He had a blue ride-on horse out front that Bean tested out.

Again, many many mahalos for your blog and telling stories of your HI life! And thank you so much for the offer. . . I will keep it in mind when I have a yearning for a particular spot. If you ever have any questions please feel free to ask away.

Aloha Deb....
Lets see... has anything new opened?
Well the little general store just up the street had a complete make-over and is kinda slick, but still looks upcountry. But nothing new that I can think of. Now Paia is a different story altogether. Several new shops and and even a new contemporary Art Gallery. Also a few that have sadly gone... Maui Crafts Guild and Nagata General Store were both forced to close....
THAT WAS SAD. Too high rent and loss of customers since TVR crackdown. I will try to get some pics of Paia soon.

Oh no - the Crafts Guild?? That IS sad:-( I just can't believe it. What has taken it's place?

Aloha Deb.
Yes... sad... but I think they are moving to where Sugarcane was just across from Shell. I just saw a sign in the old Grafts Guild window the other night that said "coming soon", but I could not make out what it was. Perhaps they traded places with Sugarcane?

Do you ever check the Maui News online? They are usually a day (or two) behind schedule... but we rely on it since we do not get the paper here at the house.
That's where we get most of our info...
