A TANGLED WEB

A CANOPY OF SPIDERS

Over the past few weeks the crab spiders (Spiny-backed Orbweaver) have taken over the trees and created one GIANT spider web measuring about 30' x 30'. When you walk into one it almost bounces you backwards. The little suckers are strong. And just how do the get one silken strand to span 15' from one tree to another? Do they take a running start on a branch and fling themselves 15' to the next branch? Amazing. I must say they do a pretty good job at keeping the bugs at bay. One giant bug-buffet.

THE CRABS ARE ANYWHERE FROM 1/8" UP TO ABOUT 1/2".
THIS ONE WAS QUITE ROBUST FROM IT'S OVER INDULGENCE AT THE BUG BUFFET.
