The above ferns begin as dark purple fronds which turn green when they unfurl.
Here I am walking along a fern coverd ridge in Maui's Iao Valley which started out as the purple fronds.
These ferns actually begin as fire red fronds and change to green as they mature.

The curly newbies are such an outer spacey shape and color. Such the 'Oooooh!' factor.
